Hi, I’m Katy,
SENIOR CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGIST
I would love to help you if you are ready to face the challenges that lay before you, and make the changes needed, to grow a life you truly desire.
Using a warm, empathic and realistic approach focussed on what you can do, we will work together at a pace that is right for you, to ensure changes can be sustained over time, and to guard against overwhelm.
I work within the principles and practices of mindfulness, kindness, self-compassion, and mind-body wholism, using evidence-based practices, informed by neuroscience, developmental theory, attachment theory, and somatic approaches to healing.
Client Focus.
Adults, Women, Men, Non-Binary and Trans Persons, Highly Sensitive & Introverted People & Women with Lipoedema
Practice Focus.
I love how regular and committed psychotherapy can make such a difference to our lives, and this is the focus of my practice. I offer both brief therapy, and long-term therapy services for adults (18+), depending on what you need.
Referrals I Accept.
I am able to assist you if you are attending either under:
A Medicare Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP)
A GP Chronic Condition Management Plan (GPCCMP)- formerly known as a CDM referral
Queensland Work Cover
Or if you are attending privately.
Please see Psychology Services for more details about the issues I work with to ensure I am the right fit for you, and have the relevant training and experience for your diagnosis or presenting issues.
My Approach.
As a Senior Clinical Psychologist, I use evidence-based interventions, tailored to your unique situation and personality, within the container of the therapeutic relationship. I work within a non-judgemental framework, inviting you into curiosity and kindness for yourself, as well as inviting you into full self-responsibility, to empower you towards creating your desired life.
The Therapeutic Relationship.
Because many of the issues we struggle with have their roots in the ways we have been wounded in relationships, we often need a therapeutic relationship as a part of our healing journey. Sometimes our issues are relatively simple, but still very important, and only brief therapy is needed, with more of a focus on skills and strategies. Sometimes our issues are complex, longstanding, and based in significant trauma, and longer term therapy is needed, especially when trust may take a long time to be earned.
Background & Offerings.
I have an extensive background in Clinical Psychology, Perinatal Psychology, Mindfulness, Sensorimotor Processing Psychotherapy, Hakomi Mindfulness Based Somatic Psychotherapy and Hakomi Advanced Relationships Training. I also have prior experience as a primary school teacher and have worked with children on the autism spectrum.
With more than 16 years experience just in psychology through confidential face to face sessions, group programs and volunteer care, I am now offering individual therapy, on the Gold Coast, and Australia wide via telehealth.
I work with a range of presenting issues, and have a special interest in working with women who are seeking to relinquish burnout, workaholism, people pleasing behaviours & being over-responsible for others, and who wish to increase in assertive communication, in saying “no” without feeling guilt, and in making and keeping healthy boundaries with others.
I am also passionate about assisting women with adjustment to Lipoedema, conservative measures, and the losses that can come with this diagnosis as it progresses, as well as any associated anxiety and depression, so that they can live their best possible life within their limitations.
I also love assisting introverts and highly sensitive people (HSPs) with creating necessary boundaries to thrive, in a culture that does not cater to them.
In support of Highly Sensitive People the practice has a Synthetic Fragrance Free Policy and an air purifier in the consult room.
Finally I have a passion for working with women with Lipoedema who seek psychological support in adjusting to their diagnosis and symptoms, the range of conservative measures that need to be put in place, and any associated mental health issues such as anxiety, depression and body issues, such as assisting with loving their body as it is, and doing what they need to do, to take care of themselves for life.

Hi, I’m Greg,
PRACTICE ADMINISTRATION
I will sometimes be the one responding directly to your enquiries, a role I share with Katy (if she doesn’t get in first), to ensure you are attended to in a timely manner. I support Katy in various aspects of running the practice, and am often working quietly behind the scenes to ensure you have a smooth experience. I have extensive experience in running all aspects of small business including IT services.
If you are referred by your GP under Medicare, and can send through your referral ahead of time, I can get things set up to ensure your rebate is done immediately after your first session with Katy. Please do not hesitate to contact us at any time should you have any questions or need assistance with admin issues, and either myself, or Katy, will get back to you as soon as possible.
